Right now, technically you should have a total of 108LP, but the system only rewarded you with 10 since the max is 100LP. So an example would be if you're at 90LP Silver II, and you win a match that gave you 18LP and qualifies you for a promo series. And if they win the promo series, the extra LP from the previous game right before the series would carry over to the next division to prevent them demoting you after just one loss. That way, even if the actual promo games doesn't award any LP, the extra LP from the previous game right before the promo series would still be there and would eliminate the situation where players would have to win 2 games after losing a promo series to requalify for another one. In higher ranks like Master or Challenger they are allowed to keep points over 100, I don't see why lower elo shouldn't be allowed the same. Most of the time your total exceeds 100, but any LP that goes pass 100 just magically disappears, like we never earned them. And rarely is the case when that last required win nets you exactly the amount of LP needed to hit 100. Its not how many games you win, its how high winrate you have which decides if you climb or not.ĭo you understand, or have I explained poorly?Ī lot of times before the last win needed to qualify for a series you're already at a good amount of LP. But it doesnt mean that you have LOST MMR, it means that if you just have 50% winrate again and reach promo, you will still need over 50% winrate, here 66.6 or 75%, to win. If you get 50% winrate during the promotion (1 win to reach promotion, and 1 win and 2 losses during promotion), you will still have the same MMR, meaning you fall back abit in LP. This means that you will have >50% winrate. When you reach the promotion, you need a 75% winrate (1 for getting there, and 2 wins during promotion (between tiers its 66.6%)) to climb. But often you get more LP in wins than losses (exceptions exists), which means that in theory, you will climb with 50% winrate. However, you will gain MMR if you have >50% winrate when you play against people with the same MMR of you. You wont get more or less MMR just because you loose LP. Look at it this way: Your MMR has nothing to do with LP, but your LP is determend by the MMR. If you loose the promotion, you have not lost MMR, you just fall back to a few games before. If you win the promotion, you have gained more MMR. If you have a 50% win rate, then there's a 50% chance you will win each promo game therefore you have a 50% chance of winning the series. , increasing the difficulty for people that have to achieve a 66% winrate to get promoted seems hardly reasonable. You gain more LP as well as MMR to compensate. How does further increasing the difficulty help in climbing Divs. As soon as you win your promos, you would immediately jump to gold 3+ because MMR only increased because you were only winning games and dodging, not losing(losing decreases MMR, dodging doesn't). Let's say you're silver 1 and you did this several times. Rinse and repeat and still remain in the same MMR.īut this is not the case. They could win 1(or 2 games) then dodge the rest. Elo boosters would have an extremely easy time if mmr was not increased during promos. Your MMR increases for every win no matter what. Source on this? Where does it state that your MMR gets upped during promotion?
